Emma is currently a graduate student in Dr. Rada Savic’s research group at the University of California San Francisco. Emma received her BA in chemistry from Mount Holyoke College and went on to complete a post-baccalaureate fellowship at the National Center for Advancing the Translational Sciences in the Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Disease program.

Emma’s current research applies population pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) models to study malaria prevention regimens for pregnant women. Through modeling, Emma and the lab’s malaria group hope to better define the antimalaria combination dyhidroartimisinin-piperaquine’s PK, safety, and efficacy profile for longitudinal dosing. The malaria group ultimately hopes this work can be used to inform prevention policy guidelines.
