Dr. Maurizio Sessa is a tenure track assistant professor of Pharmacoepidemiology at the University of Copenhagen. He was trained as a pharmacist at the University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli”, received the title of certified expert in Regulatory Affairs at the Donau Universität Krems in Austria. He obtained his European Ph.D. (e.g., Doctor Europaeus) in Translational Medicine in 2017 in co-tutoring between the University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli” and Aalborg University. He worked until 2019 as a postdoctoral researcher in Pharmacoepidemiology at the Aalborg University Hospital and the University of Copenhagen. His primary research interests include the application and development of tools for drug utilization research, machine-learning applications for subgroup identification in secondary data sources, and comparative safety/effectiveness research of pharmacotherapy. He is a winner of several awards and prizes from scientific society, has led, and participated in several national and international multi-country research projects in pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology. He is a reviewer for more than 30 prestigious academic journals including Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety, Drug Safety, Expert Opinion on Drug Safety, and Scientific Reports. He is the co-author of over 66 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
