Dr. Mary Peace McRae is an Associate Professor within the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science at the Virginia Commonwealth University. She received her Bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology from Wake Forest University, her Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She joined the faculty in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy in 2012. Her research program is interested in understanding the interplay between HIV and drugs of abuse within the brain. Specifically, her lab focuses on how opioids may interfere with antiretroviral concentrations and efficacy within the brain. Dr McRae has been a member of ASCPT since 2002 and is currently the Mental Health & Addiction Community Chair.
