Dr. Younis is a Senior Director in Clinical Pharmacology at Gilead Sciences. Before joining Gilead , he worked as a Director in Clinical Pharmacology and Exploratory Development Department at Astellas Pharma Global Development and as a Clinical Pharmacology team leader (antiviral and animal rule products) at the US Food and Drug Administration. Additionally, he is currently chairing the IQ Organ Impairment Working Group and co-charining the IQ Regulaotry Guidance Working Group. Islam holds a B.Sc. in Pharmacy, a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences in addition to graduate certificates in Public Health, Drug Development and Regulatory Sciences, and Pharmacoepidemiology. Islam has extensive experience in drug development, clinical pharmacology and regulatory science, policy and process across multiple therapeutic areas. He published more than 50 manuscripts and conference abstracts and presented in many national and international conferences. Islam received several awards including the FDA Commissioner Special Citation Award for his work on improving the efficiency of schizophrenia drug development which is published in the prestigious JAMA Psychiatry Journal and the American College of Clinical Pharmacology Excellence in Achievement Award. In his spare time, Islam enjoys spending time with his family, playing soccer, reading, and traveling.
