Dr. Mark Marzinke is Associate Professor of Pathology and Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He received his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed fellowship training in Clinical Chemistry at Johns Hopkins. He currently serves as the Director of the Clinical Pharmacology Analytical Laboratory within the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, and is also Co-Director of the HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) Laboratory Center (LC). His primary research interests are in the areas of antiretroviral pharmacology, HIV prevention science, analytical chemistry, and mass spectrometry. Dr. Marzinke has collaborated on research to better characterize the multi-compartment pharmacology of antiretroviral agents when administered as topical microbicides or long-acting agents. Dr. Marzinke is a principal investigator (PI) on several grants, including an R01 grant focused on understanding the pharmacokinetic relationship between hormonal therapies and antiretroviral agents. He has published more than 160 peer-reviewed articles, and holds leadership positions in several societies.
