Dr. Xiaoyan Chu, Ph.D., is a Senior Principal Scientist in the Department of Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics & Drug Metabolism (PPDM), Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, NJ, USA. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Molecular Pharmacokinetics at the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Tokyo, Japan. After completing her post-doctoral research at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, University of Michigan, she joined the Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics and Drug Metabolism department at Merck & Co., Inc. As the scientific leader for the Transporter & In Vitro Technology Group, her main responsibilities are to develop transporter strategies to support Merck’s discovery and development portfolio, and to evaluate and establish new technologies to establish in vitro to in vivo extrapolation and translational modeling approaches to predict drug transporter/metabolic enzyme related drug disposition and interactions. She has authored over 70 peer-reviewed research papers, book chapters, and was invited to speak at over 40 national/international scientific conferences. She is a member of the International Transport Consortium (ITC), and serves as the Chair of ISSX Transporter Focus Group and the organizer and steering committee member of various scientific meetings/organizations.
