Zoe Kiefer is a PhD student under the mentorship of Dr. Jason Ross at Iowa State University. She received her master's degree from Iowa State University in Animal Physiology. Her master's research focused on discovering and characterizing novel biological factors associated with pelvic organ prolapse in late gestation sows. Specifically, changes in the vaginal microbiome, local immune microenvironment and changes in steroid hormone abundance in the systemic circulation. Zoe is continuing her work in swine and survivability for her PhD.
