Katherine Vande Pol recently graduated with a PhD in applied pork production at the University of Illinois and is continuing her education by pursuing a MS in Statistics, Analytics and will be graduating in May. She grew up in central California, where she earned her Associate's Degree in 2012 from De Anza Junior College. From there, she went on to complete her Bachelor's in animal science at Utah State University in 2014. Since then, she has been studying at the University of Illinois. She completed her Master's with Dr Michael Ellis in 2016 on the effects of sow housing and farrowing pen size on sow and piglet productivity, and completed her PhD with Dr Michael Ellis in 2020, focusing on methods to reduce piglet pre-weaning mortality.
