Larissa completed her Masters in Applied Swine Nutrition at K-State in 2021 and is currently a Ph.D. candidate. Originally from Minnesota, Larissa grew up in the swine industry through her family’s commercial swine operation and involvement in the show pig industry. She received her Bachelors in Animal Science from Iowa State University in 2020. Her involvement in research as an undergraduate and through internships helped develop her passion for swine nutrition and played an important role in her decision to pursue her education further into graduate school. Her M.S. research focused on developing an available phosphorus release curve and mycotoxin control strategies in nursery pig diets, and determining lysine requirements in finishing pigs. This research was completed in university research facilities as well as commercial barns. While completing her M.S., Larissa has gained experience in data management and statical analysis as well as leading bi-weekly conference calls with commercial research staff. Larissa currently serves as the swine undergraduate research coordinator where she oversees undergraduate research projects.
