Post Doc Fellow
University of Guelph, Department of Animal Biosciences, Centre for Genetic Improvement of Livestock, Guelph, ON, Canada, Canada
Ph.D. degree in Genetics and Animal Breeding at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She completed an externship at the University of Guelph, Canada ( from September 2018 to March of 2020), where developed part of your Ph.D. project, which was focused on transcriptome study of Longissimus thoracis muscle of Nellore cattle, using RNA-Sequencing data. She has abilities in the field of beef quality, animal production, and animal breeding are rooted in a study education in animal science. She completed her B.Sc. in Animal Science at University Vale do Acaraú (2012), and her M.Sc. degree in Animal Science at the University of Brasilia (2015), Brazil. During her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees collaborated with a Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (EMBRAPA), which expanded her experience in data collection and data management of an animal breeding program database for goats and sheep. There, she had an extensive range of responsibilities including performing and documenting laboratory support activities, helping other students with their research projects, organizing and managing activities, and performing the molecular biology techniques such as DNA extraction, and PCR. To analyze genomics data, through genome-wide association study - GWAS and genetic diversity studies focused to investigate the diversity of native sheep breeds from Brazil. During her doctoral graduation, she worked on a research project aiming to better understand the genetic architecture of beef cattle meat quality traits using bioinformatics, high-throughput RNA-Sequencing technology, and -OMICs technologies including genomics and transcriptomics. Currently, she is working on a project focused on investigating genetic markers associated with different responses to ketosis treatment when compared to ketosis-free Holstein cows.
