Patients in different stages of life may require different treatment considerations. Adolescents tend to lack insight into the social, school and legal problems that result from substance use, while the elderly are often isolated and are most susceptible to the health consequences of substance use. This session will review epidemiology, screening, complications of use, and unique treatment issues for adolescents, young adults, and the elderly.
