While much of substance use disorder presentation is similar for both women and men, understanding the differences can help improve treatment outcomes. Genetics can also play a role in the development and presentation of addiction. This session will review genetic and gender-based considerations for assessing and treating addiction in women and discuss substance-related treatment for pregnant or post-partum patients and newborns.
