Health & Safety

ASAM remains fully committed to holding a successful in-person meeting and is working closely with The Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk and vendor partners in order to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all attendees. ASAM’s priority is always the health and well-being of our community. The situation remains fluid, therefore all conference details, including sessions, speakers, rooms and COVID-19 precautions, are subject to change. Please review the below health and safety protocols to ensure your safety and well-being during the 2022 ASAM Review Course.

Vaccination or Negative Test Requirement

ASAM is requiring all meeting participants to be vaccinated or to have received a negative PCR or antigen COVID-19 test within 72 hours of arriving at the course. Attendees will need to attest to this requirement upon registering and should plan to bring and may be asked to provide documentation of vaccination or test results on-site.

Before the Event

  • Follow relevant guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and your local health authority
  • Adhere to government issued travel restrictions and guidance issued by the region you will be travelling to and the region you are travelling from
  • Evaluate your own health and that of people you are in close contact with
  • Stay home if you feel sick or exhibit any of the symptoms of COVID-19

During the Event

  • Attendees are encouraged to wear masks, but masks are optional
  • Maintain appropriate social distancing during exhibit hall hours and networking activities. Seating during sessions and meals will be appropriately spaced according to CDC guidelines.
  • Use hand sanitation stations placed strategically throughout the event space. The Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk will be providing enhanced cleaning throughout the event space every night, but it's up to you to keep your hands clean.
  • Avoid hand-shaking. Elbow bumps, shaka signs, sign-language waves, and the Namaste are highly encouraged!

After the Event

Based on current contact tracing advice from health authorities, if you test positive for COVID-19 up to 14 days after returning home, please notify ASAM via email at education@asam.org.

Safety Measures in the Meeting Space

  • Social distancing enforcement throughout the event space - registration, exhibit hall, session rooms, etc.
  • Capacity limits will be enforced according to state and local ordinances
  • Hotel staff will provide contactless services when possible
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be available
  • Hotel common areas and the event space areas experience regular cycles of high-touch point sanitization
ASAM is monitoring federal and local guidelines and will be updating this page regularly as new information becomes available. Health health and safety measures implemented by ASAM prior to the event are subject to change. Any violations of the attendee Health & Safety Policy may result in prohibiting entry to event or removal from the event.
