Whitney I. Menarcheck, LPC, NCC is the Assistant Director for Systems Transformation Support at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy Program Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU). Transitioning from a patient-facing clinician to a catalyst of change within health care systems, she serves as a Co-Editor of The ASAM Criteria, 4th edition.
As a Pennsylvania Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor, Ms. Menarcheck worked across various levels of care as well as private practice and correctional services. Prior to joining the University of Pittsburgh, she served as the Director of Substance Use Programs at the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh, PA. She led the implementation of extended-release injectable naltrexone initiation and expansion of services for individuals receiving or pursuing medication for opioid use disorder in addition to overseeing existing substance use services. Through her collaboration with community organizations and the specialty court systems in Allegheny County, she facilitated essential connections to care for individuals being released from incarceration and returning to the community.
Ms. Menarcheck earned her B.S. Psychology from Saint Joseph’s University and M.S. Counseling Psychology from Chatham University. She has experience with program development, management, strategy, systems transformation, and quality improvement.
