Kathryn Basques APRN, MSW is a psychiatric nurse practitioner specializing in Addiction Medicine and Consult-Liaison Psychiatry at Lifespan Health System in Providence, RI. After completing her education at Yale School of Nursing, she started her career at Yale-New Haven Hospital as the first nurse practitioner on a pro-active psychiatric consult service. From 2015-2020, she worked at Rush University Medical Center as the Co- Director of the Substance Use Intervention Team (SUIT) and dedicated herself to promoting early identification of substance use disorders, implementation of an SBIRT model of care on the inpatient units and improving the management of opioid and alcohol withdrawal syndromes. She was an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and faculty for the Addiction Medicine and Psychosomatic Medicine fellowships. Following her time at Rush, Kathryn spent one year working in Camden, NJ at Cooper Health System in a combined role of inpatient addiction medicine consult service and a low barrier, outpatient, walk-in bridge clinic. In November, 2021, Kathryn started a new position in the Lifespan Health System in Providence, RI where she will continue to work in a combined inpatient and outpatient clinical role, while working to advocate for advancing Harm Reduction policy.
