Dr. Sprintz is a national subject matter expert on the intersection of chronic pain and addiction. Dr. Sprintz received training at top-tier institutions including Johns Hopkins Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and he is triple board-certified in Pain Medicine, Addiction Medicine, and Anesthesiology. Importantly, Dr. Sprintz is personally in recovery from addiction for over 21 years. In 2013, Dr. Sprintz founded the Sprintz Center for Pain and Recovery in The Woodlands, TX, one of the very first private practices which deliver patient-centric, comprehensive, and interventional chronic pain care, including behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment.
Dr. Sprintz currently serves as a member of the FDA’s Analgesic and Anesthetic Drug Products Advisory Committee and is also an active member of ASAM’s Practice Management and Regulatory Affairs Committee Moreover, Dr. Sprintz serves as a member of the ASRA/ASA working group on Substance Use Disorders, which is creating the foundational guidance for pain doctors and anesthesiologists throughout the country by defining the educational needs and skill sets necessary for pain doctors and anesthesiologists to effectively identify and manage complex pain patients and substance use disorders.
The culmination of Dr. Sprintz’s skills, experience, and vision make him a rare and valuable resource to private industry, government, and any organization interested in improving clinical and economic outcomes, especially related to chronic pain and/or substance use disorders. He has consulted for a number of large organizations in the pharma, biotech, and medical device spaces, as well as State and Federal entities, and smaller healthcare-related tech startups.
