Former Program Manager
University of Michigan, Texas
Suzanne Kapica, MA LPC CAADC, is the former Program/Project Manager for the Michigan Opioid Collaborative (MOC). MOC is a project that is based out of the University of Michigan of Anesthesia under the direction of the PI, Dr. Amy Bohnert. Ms. Kapica has worked in the mental health and substance use field for over 30 years. She has been dedicated to the underserved and to helping individuals and families to receive support without stigma. Over her career, Suzanne Kapica has worked delivering services in homes and the community, running programs, training nationally on treatment for specialized populations and in research to improve treatment. As the Project Manager for the MOC, she worked with Dr. Sethi, Dr. Poland and many other amazing physicians and treatment professionals to help educate and support primary care and other physicians/providers to treat patients with Opiod Use Disorders using medications for opioid use disorders (MOUD).
The MOC project was funded by MDHHS as well as a partnership with BCBS of Michigan. The project model is highly collaborative and community based to help each community attack and fight back against the opioid epidemic. "The progress and expansion of MOUD treatment across Michigan was an amazing experience and a true feather in my career cap. This project brought to use all of my clinical, management and community collaboration skills and I was grateful to lead this project."
