Charles Morgan, MD, DFASAM, FAAFP is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He completed Medical School at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine, his internship in Internal Medicine at the Genesee Hospital in Rochester, New York and his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed fellowships in Addiction Medicine at Willingway Hospital in Statesboro, Georgia and in Regional and Obstetric Anesthesia at the University of Pennsylvania, and did graduate work in Human Genetics at Cornell University. Dr. Morgan has specialized in Addiction Medicine for four decades, and has worked in all modalities of treatment from outpatient to inpatient, including office based practice to providing medical direction for a large health care system in addiction services, in both the private and public sectors. He is Former Medical Director of the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (formerly named the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services). Currently he is Medical Director of Addiction Services at Wayne Behavioral Health Network In Lyons, New York and Interim Medical Director at St. Josephs Treatment and Recovery Centers in Saranac Lake, New York. Dr. Morgan also consults and lectures as an Addiction Medicine expert for various agencies in the private, public and government sectors, as he did for the current ASAM presentation. Dr, Morgan also studied voice at Eastman School of Music and privately, and has performed professionally in opera, concerts and musical theater.
