Dr Christos Kouimtsidis, MBBS, MSc, CCST, FRCPsych, PhD is a Consultant in Adult Mental Health and Addiction Psychiatry at Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SABP) in England. He is Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer with Imperial College London (since 2016) and St Andrew’s University, Scotland (since 2018). Prior to this he has been a lecturer and later Senior Lecturer with St George’s University Medical School. He has received the Gold CARE Leader Award (2016) and the prestigious UK 2015 HSJ Award for Clinical Research Impact with the Research and Development Department of SABP.
During the past 20 years he has been involved in several epidemiological, qualitative and clinical Randomized Controlled Trials. During the past ten years in collaboration with several UK Universities he has been the Chief Investigator for three National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) trials and other portfolio studies. He has published 3 books and several chapters in other books including a chapter on Motivational Interviewing for the new edition of the International Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM) textbook. He has published more than 70 peer reviewed papers and he participated as a keynote speaker or symposium organiser in several UK and international conferences,
Since February 2019 Dr Kouimtsidis is the National Coordinator for Addressing Drugs of Greece, responsible for the development and implementation of the National Drug Strategy and relevant Act5ion Plans.
