Lisa W. Miller, MD is currently an Addiction Medicine Fellow at Maine Medical Center in Portland and the VA hospital in Togus. Prior to attending fellowship she was a rural family medicine physician with 17 years of experience practicing primary care. She completed residency at Maine Medical Center, medical school at Boston University and did her undergraduate work studying chemistry and religion at the University of Vermont. She has dedicated the academic year 2021/2022 to focus on completing a fellowship in addiction medicine after five years of integrating treatment for opioid use disorder into her primary practice and finding if to be the most gratifying aspect of her practice. During those five years she helped develop processes around addiction treatment for the rural area she practiced in and addressed stigma through outreach and education to the local and greater community in western Maine. Her specific addiciton interests include harm reduction, injection drug use and the development of syringe service programs in underserved areas.
