Massachusetts General Hospital Substance Use Disorders Initiative
Samantha Sawyer, MPH, is Project Manager for the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Substance Use Disorders Initiative. In this role, Ms. Sawyer manages multiple grants from the application process to the start-up and implementation phases, including coordinating grant reporting and managing grant finances. She also supervises a team of clinical research coordinators and supports the Initiative’s research efforts. Prior to joining MGH, Ms. Sawyer worked on several mental and behavioral health and social determinants of health research projects and studies. She also completed a year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA. Ms. Sawyer graduated from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health with a Master of Public Health in Sociomedical Sciences and a concentration in social epidemiology. Prior to that, she attended the University of Vermont where she graduated with a double major in Global Studies and Spanish and spent time abroad studying public health in urban environments in Argentina.
