Drew serves as the Vice President of Clinical Integration and Innovation at the American Physical Therapy Association where he works to enhance the service and substance of physical therapy delivery across the country. Serving over 20 years on active duty as a career military officer and practicing physical therapist within the US Army & Department of Defense, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Contreras has served in a number of settings and military units throughout his career . During this time he served as a consultant to the White House Medical Unit and was then chosen as a by name selection by President Obama to serve as the first ever full time physical therapist at the White House. There he served as the Physical Therapist to the White House Medical Unit and President of the United States Barrack Obama from 2010 until the end of the administration in 2017. Drew finished his military career returning to Ft Bragg to serve as the Chief of Physical Therapy at Womack AMC – Defense Health Agency. He retired from active duty in 2020 and he currently works part time in private practice and clinically as an advisor to the White House Medical Unit and President Biden.
