How collaboration of Nebraska physical, occupational, and speech therapy providers influenced insurance policy change and legislation. In 2017, Medicaid MCOs started in Nebraska creating challenges in authorizations and payments. A multidisciplinary advocacy group was created, resulting in positive relationships with legislators and insurers to ensure patient access to quality care, accomplish changes within insurers, and ensure appropriate reimbursement. Additionally, two laws were passed to eliminate MPPR and require a 60-day notification to providers. Participants will learn how to collaborate to establish relationships with legislators and insurers, which leads to successful policy changes, ensures quality care and access, and appropriate reimbursement.

Understand how to change policy through the legislative process, including how to successfully draft a legislative bill.
