Laura Gayton, MHA, BSN, CNOR, CSSM, has been a perioperative nurse for over 30 years holding the positions of staff nurse, educator, manager, and director. Ms. Gayton is currently an associate director standards interpretation group at The Joint Commission in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. Previously, Laura was director of surgical services at Amita Health-Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, where service lines included general OR, CVOR, CSPD, GI, pre/post, and CPAP areas. Laura most recently spent the five years at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, as manager over multiple service lines, including developing and coordinating their fetal surgery program. She has been CNOR certified for 25 years, and CSSM for the past three years. Laura has served in multiple positions, including secretary, president-elect/president, chair, of national committees, task forces, and specialty assemblies. Laura has been elected to AORN's Nominating Committee for 2019-2021. No conflict.
