Julie K. Moyle, MSN (Duke '91), BSN (Vanderbilt '86) has worked in staff, charge nurse, and manager roles in the ORs at the University of Florida and Duke University Medical Center. She was drawn to Colorado and the opportunity in 2003 to open and manage the surgery department at the first LEED certified hospital in the US, and currently practices at Avista Adventist Ambulatory Surgery Center. In 2015, Julie joined the staff of Practice Greenhealth, a non-profit organization of more than 1400 hospitals and health system members working to reduce their environmental impacts. She has spoken at ASHE, CleanMed, AORN and OR Business Manager events, national webinars, and other forums on implementing environmental best practices in inpatient and outpatient surgical settings. A current member of AORN, Julie served on the Guideline Advisory Board, and authored the AORN Environmental Responsibility Statement as a subject matter expert in health care sustainability.
