Janet Elrod is an experienced Registered Nurse at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital who has focused on patient advocacy and staff development throughout her career. She earned her BSN at UTK in 2002 and her MSN in Nursing Education from WKU in 2012.
After many years in women's health and population health management, Janet began her career in psychiatric nursing at Vanderbilt Behavioral Health in 2017 on the Thought Disorder Unit. She became the Clinical Staff Leader for the Neuromodulation Unit and has helped hundreds of patients with diagnoses ranging from suicidality to active psychosis through pre-op preparation and post-op recovery. Currently, she is the nurse manager of the Psychiatric Assesment Services Unit.
She is board certified in psychiatric nursing and a member of American Psychiatric Nurses Association. She has spoken at the 2020 and 2021 APNA conferences, is a member of the National Neuromodulation task force, and is a peer reviewer for APNA educational modules and journal articles.
