Dr. Imelda Wright is a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the University of Louisville School of Nursing and has taught for six years at the school for six years. As a former perioperative nurse, Imelda experienced the high-risk nature of the OR department, and recognized how cultural factors can set the stage may be set for adverse events to occur. Therefore, she is committed to conducting research relating to mitigating perioperative patient risk.
Imelda has built a framework of nursing research revolving around perioperative nurses, their engagement, their practice, and the work environment, specifically as it relates to patient safety in the operating Room (OR). She has nine peer-reviewed publications and has delivered numerous podium and poster presentations at local, regional, and national conferences.
