Sarah Hirx is a nurse leader with a passion for professional development and employee wellness. She completed her BSN and MSN at Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT and holds a post-graduate certificate in Health Professions Education from The University of Connecticut. She integrates wellness and team training concepts into leadership and education utilizing her certifications as a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, HeartMath Certified Trainer, and Caritas Coach.
Sarah is currently the Manager of Perioperative Professional Development at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT. She previously held positions in education and leadership at Stanford Health Care and Yale-New Haven Hospital. Her professional accomplishments include launching and co-directing an interprofessional OR in-situ simulation program, designing and implementing a simulation-enhanced perioperative nurse training program, creating academic-practice partnerships for undergraduate nursing experiences in perioperative services, and developing and executing a training plan for the opening of a new hospital facility. Sarah was named an AORN Top 40 Under 40 Nurse Leader in 2017 due in part to her work to open the OR doors to nursing students and new graduates.
