Early career experience as a social worker in acute care hospital for alcohol addiction. Worked in Stanford School of Education supporting Teachers for a New Era (Carnegie Found. Advancement of Teaching grant/Linda Darling Hammond/Claire Kosnik). Joined Dr. Lou Halamek's Center for Advanced Pediatric and Perinatal Education in the School of Medicine (2006-2010) where I began my education in medical simulation. Subsequently moved to the Goodman Immersive Learning Center in the School of Medicine under the direction of Associate Dean David Gaba MD and Assistant Dean Susan Eller MSN RN CHSE as Lead Simulationist (2010-2017). Recruited by Stanford Health Care Interventional Platform Education and Goodman Surgical Education Center as the InterCEPT Simulation Mgr. under James Lau MD MHPE FACS (Dept. Surgery) and Sarah Hirx MSN RN CNOR (Mgr. Interventional Platform Education) with a RISK Authority grant to effect change in pt. safety based on interprofessional in situ simulation and team training. Permanently funded by Interventional Platform Education in 2019 under direction of Anesthesiologists (Drs. Fanning, Austin, Goldhaber-Fiebert and Surgeons (Drs. Nassar, B. Lee, and JL. Lee). InterCEPT simulations on behalf of patient safety, systems/process improvement and teamwork to effect culture change.
