Dr. Kathy Williams is a Perioperative Education Specialist and the ANCC Accredited Approver Program Director at AORN. She works daily to ensure education, quality, and safety in the perioperative environment across the globe. In her past position with CommonSpirit Health, Dr. Williams assisted over 150 hospitals with their perioperative questions and processes. Dr. Williams has championed multiple projects in her roles, including standardization of policies, procedures, and education; reviewing educational offerings; and writing programming for perioperative and nursing education. With a team, she has created and implemented system-wide orientation programs for intraoperative, perianesthesia, and endoscopy nurses. She is a fellow in the SGNA Infection Prevention Champions Program and has worked with educational partners to create a perioperative preceptorship program for nursing students in their last semester. She co-authored an article on this topic. Dr. Williams consults to share her expertise with various hospitals and perianesthesia organizations. Dr. Williams is the current President of the Nebraska League for Nursing, serves on several national nursing committees, and is a member of many other nursing and non-nursing organizations. She regularly volunteers for different non-profit organizations. Dr. Williams prides herself in helping others become the best version of themselves. Even though she lives in Nebraska, she is a Michigan girl at heart.
