Charlotte Guglielmi MA, BSN, RN, CNOR, FAORN, is the Clinical Manager of Perioperative Education at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. She is a champion for patient safety, particularly focused on high performance teamwork and the professional development of perioperative nurses. Her career has been diverse, practicing as a clinician, manager, educator, and administrator. She oversees her division’s practice, safety and quality initiatives, policy and procedure development, orientation and curriculum design including the BIDMC Perioperative Nurse Entry Program. Guglielmi is a nationally recognized speaker, consultant and subject matter expert on perioperative education and safety having presented to over 125 international, national and local groups outside of the medical center. Her publication history includes numerous articles and book chapters. She served as the AORN Journal Table Talk Column Coordinator (2011 – 2016). This column inspired numerous healthcare teams to dialogue on issues that impacted clinical practice and patient outcomes. Guglielmi’s service to AORN spans several decades and includes service as AORN President (2010 – 2011), AORN Foundation President (2014-2016) and as AORN Liaison to numerous professional societies. Guglielmi received AORN’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Perioperative Clinical Practice (2001), President’s Award (2015) and The Award for Excellence (2019). She is an inaugural Fellow of the Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (FAORN). (2020)
