Deena Young Guren MSN RN CNS-CP CNOR is the Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist at the University of Washington Medical Center, Montlake Campus. She is the current board chairperson for the Northwest Perioperative Consortium and past president of the Seattle area AORN chapter. She is involved with numerous quality and safety initiatives for surgical patients and has participated in research related to OR Air movement and use of HEPA Towers, and OR pressure injury prevention. She is one of the authors of the AORN Pressure Injury Prevention Toolkit and has presented nationally and internationally related to this topic. She has additional clinical experience in OB/GYN, Labor and Delivery, and practiced as a CNM with the University of CA San Francisco faculty practice. She earned her MSN as a clinical nurse specialist from Case Western Reserve University, and her BSN from the University of Virginia, and her CNM from the University of Mississippi. She has been employed or studied at institutions in California, Mississippi, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington.
