I am the Nursing Director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and the Cardiac Operating Room at Boston Children’s Hospital. As such, I actively collaborate with local nursing and leadership and Clinical Nurse Specialists to develop educational programs geared to the specialized needs of our patients and families. I am responsible for and committed to a healthy work environment for all staff. In addition to surveying the staff annually using the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses’ healthy work environment assessment tool, I helped develop a daily HWE tool entitled the REAL Indicator. This work was published in Cardiology in the Young in 2015. I collaborate with Gift of Life in order to grow and develop a self-sufficient pediatric cardiovascular surgery program in El Salvador. I am an active member of many Heart Center and hospital-wide committees as well as national and international collaboratives including International Quality Improvement Collaborative. I completed my Doctorate in Nursing Practice Nurse Executive in May 2018 at Simmons College.
