A native of Houston, Texas, Lieutenant Commander Regina R. Leasseãr practiced as a civilian Registered Nurse with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing beginning in 1990. She worked in various hospital settings within the Houston Metropolitan area specializing in Obstetrics Gynecology High Risk Labor and Delivery, Emergency Room Nursing, Texas State Regulator for the Long Term Care Facilities of Texas. Her career in the Navy began through the Advance Pay Grade Program as an enlisted Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class in the United States Navy Reserve. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Prairie View A&M University of Prairie View, Texas in 2004.
In 2005, she mobilized as a Hospital Corpsman. She was selected and Commissioned into the Navy Nurse Corps in September 2006 where she chose to continue her Navy career as an Active Duty member. Upon Commissioning, LCDR Leasseãr attended Officer Indoctrination School, Newport, Rhode Island. She was assigned to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) in October of 2006 as an Ensign and worked in the Medical Surgical Ward. During this tour, she was selected for Subspecialty Program for Duty Under Instruction (DUINS) for the Perioperative Nursing Program in Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Florida, in January 2010. She reported back to NMCP in April 2010 for a second tour. She deployed in 2012 in support of GWOT to Kandahar, Afghanistan as a member of Role 3 forward surgical team for 8 months.
After a successful operational tour, she reported to NAS Jacksonville, Florida in 2013. During her tenure, she was the Supply Officer and Divisional Officer for Endoscopy Clinic. In 2016, she reported to USNH Naples, Italy. She was selected as the commands’ MED IG, and later appointed as the Department Head for Main Operating Room (MOR), which greatly contributed to successful Joint Commission visit. As a Perioperative Nurse, she has accumulated nine years of clinical experience.
Additionally, she was appointed as the Europe Joint Product Review Board for Medical Materiel Enterprise Standardization Office (MMESO).
Lieutenant Commander Leasseãr is currently at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton as perioperative staff nurse, appointed to Business Manager and the MHS Genesis Super User for the MOR NMRTC Camp Pendleton, CA. Personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the NATO Medal, and various service medals.
