Margaret (Maggie) is a Masters prepared Registered Nurse, Certified in Infection Control and Epidemiology, with over 30 years of experience in healthcare within both large academic and community hospital settings. Maggie began her career, as a Critical Care Nurse in medical-surgical, transplant and trauma for a Level I regional trauma center in Southern California. During that time, she was selected to facilitate successful projects including the hospital’s de-centralization of patient care services.
For the last 20 years, Maggie has worked for Emory Healthcare in Atlanta. Initially in Peri-anesthesia nursing, she transitioned to Infection Prevention and is currently Manager of Infection Prevention at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. She received her training in the surveillance and reporting of Healthcare Associated infections at the CDC. Maggie has Lean-Six Sigma training and has facilitated many performance improvement projects contributing to significant reductions in hospital associated infections including CLABSI, C difficile and Surgical Site Infections.
