Kizzie Charles MS, APRN, AGCNS-BC, CNOR is a Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She is a Doctor of Nursing Practice candidate at Quinnipiac University and has a Master of Science in Clinical Nurse Specialist from Hunter College-City University of New York, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Long Island University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the State University of New York, Geneseo College. She is CNOR-certified and board-certified as an Adult-Gerontologic Clinical Nurse Specialist. Kizzie has been a Registered Nurse for 17 years and worked as a staff nurse in the operating room for 11 1/2 years. During that time, she held different titles including Hepatopancreatobiliary Service Leader, Colorectal Service Leader, Magnet Champion, and OR Unit-based Council member. Kizzie’s current role is the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) for the operating rooms at MSKCC's Main Campus and Josie Robertson Surgery Center. As a CNS, Kizzie is responsible for implementing evidence-based measures to enhance nursing practice, improve patient outcomes, and achieve health system goals. She is an active member of several interdepartmental councils and interdisciplinary committees; she is also a member of AORN, NACNS, ONS, and NBNA. Through her work at MSKCC, Kizzie strives to improve the nursing profession and the quality of patient care through professional development, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
