Mary L. (Mimi) Pfeffer, BSN, RN, CNOR(e), CR began her nursing career as a Med/Surg nurse and quickly discovered her “home” as a procedure-based nurse. Working several years in Interventional Radiology, her enthusiasm for direct patient care in a sterile environment transformed into roles as an OR Nurse. Learning to scrub then circulate, her career path continued, completing RNFA training and requirements for CNOR. Interests in staff development, coaching and education lead her to roles as Clinical Assistant OR Nurse Manager and Perioperative Clinical Education Specialist, all within the Barnes-Jewish Hospital System in St. Louis, MO.
Her career path shifted into the capital medical device industry where she held positions as Clinical Trainer, Global Training Manager, and Clinical Insights Manager within the Marketing Department of the Surgical Solutions Division at Hillrom. She continued to uphold the focus on safety of the surgical patient as she traveled internationally for five years, training personnel and distributors, coupled with presenting clinical topics to global audiences of nurses, physicians/surgeons, industry vendors, and healthcare executives.
Recently transitioning away from the corporate world, while keeping her finger on the pulse of the OR environment, she is now owner and Perioperative RN Consultant at Clinical Navigations, LLC, a perioperative consulting business.
An RN for over 30 years Mimi’s passion is for human care, believing that each human’s journey toward a healthful balance is as unique as the individual. Owner and Wellness Navigator at CereSoma, LLC, a mind-body connected care business offering online and in-person modalities that foster a mind/body balance, Mimi currently practices as a Certified Foot Reflexologist (CR), a Facilitator of I AM Yoga Nidra™ Guided Meditation, and a Licensed Facilitator of Chakradance™.
As an ongoing AORN member, Mimi has been an active member of AORN’s Integrative Health Practices (IHP) Specialty Assembly (SA), and is delighted that IHP-SA has recently been reinstated, newly serving as Communications Chair.
