Larisa Méndez-Peñate serves as Early Childhood Wellness Director at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH). Larisa received her Master’s degree in Risk and Prevention from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and has worked for more than 20 years in the fields of early learning and child mental health and wellness. She has experience providing direct service, building community partnerships, providing technical assistance, and developing programs and policy – all with a focus on nurturing children’s social and emotional development and supporting family well-being. Larisa served as State Lead for the Massachusetts Project LAUNCH and LAUNCH Expansion grants. In her current role, Larisa manages the Massachusetts Essentials for Childhood initiative and provides guidance and support to a number of related initiatives within MDPH’s Division of Pregnancy, Infancy and Early Childhood; including the Massachusetts Home Visiting Initiative and Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems.
