Anita Martel moved to Kentucky 17 years ago from Palm Beach County, Florida. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Sciences from Lynn University in Boca Raton, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She spent the her college years writing and reviewing federal grants; and, developing and implementing substance abuse prevention programs on behalf of the colleges she attended. She was the first college freshman to be awarded an internship at Department of Education in Washington, DC. Since coming to the KY Department for Public Health in 2013, she has worked to grow the MCH program. She is dedicated to evolving the KY MCH program packages, ensuring local and statewide needs are met with improved health outcomes; evidence-based best practices are intrinsic to the program; and, accountability, data reporting and program compliance are automatic for all local health department MCH coordinators. Her goal is to teach others to replicate the packages to address their state's MCH needs.
