Dana Sherrod is the Director of Birth Equity & Racial Justice Initiatives with the Public Health Alliance of Southern California. At the Alliance, Dana leads a series of racial equity initiatives with governments, hospitals, and health systems, most notably, Cherished Futures for Black Moms & Babies. In previous roles, Dana spearheaded the launch of a statewide mental health advocacy and prevention program for Black women across California and has championed land-use policies to improve the built environment in Los Angeles neighborhoods of color. Dana is a co-founder of the California Coalition for Black Birth Justice, a member of the Los Angeles County African American Infant and Maternal Mortality Steering Committee, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Institute for Public Strategies. She holds a Master of Public Health from San Jose State University.
