Dr. Krakowiak is an epidemiologist with over 15 years of academic experience working with multidisciplinary teams on maternal and child health research. As data analyst and researcher at the University of California Davis (2004-2018) in Public Health Sciences, Epidemiology Division, she provided statistical support and investigated prenatal exposures and risk factors for autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions in her doctoral and postdoctoral work. Her doctoral research on maternal metabolic conditions and neurodevelopmental outcomes in children earned her recognition in the Top Papers of 2012 by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. In 2018, Dr. Krakowiak joined the California Department of Public Health to serve a Team Lead for the California Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review. Dr. Krakowiak now serves as the Chief of Morbidity and Mortality Surveillance Unit within the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Division.
