Jessica Smith is a Research Assistant Professor in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University and serves as Assistant Project Director at the Georgia Health Policy Center (GHPC). At GHPC, she leads the Medicaid Policy and Business Team; her team produces quantitative and qualitative policy research for the Georgia Medicaid program and for state policymakers and stakeholders. In her faculty role, Jessica conducts research focused on maternal and child health and healthcare access for publicly insured populations. At GHPC, she has collaborated with colleagues to evaluate a statewide expansion of group prenatal care on birth outcomes for the South Carolina Medicaid program and led work with the Georgia Medicaid program to estimate the effects of extending postpartum Medicaid coverage on healthcare utilization for pregnant women in Georgia.
