Julie Stagg serves the Maternal and Child Health Unit at the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as the Healthy Texas Mothers and Babies Branch Manager. She manages a team of subject matter experts and provides clinical and technical subject matter expertise, coordination, and oversite to initiatives related to prevention of maternal and infant health mortality and morbidity and promorion of maternal and infant health and safety throughout the life course. In addition to her role as Branch Manager, she serves as the TexasAIM Program Direcrtor and DSHS State Breastfeeding Coordinator. Ms. Stagg completed the master’s level clinical nurse specialty core curriculum in Maternity Nursing before receiving a Master of Science in Public Health Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a Registered Nurse, an internationally board certified lactation consultant, and certified professional in health care quality. She has worked to promote the health of women and children for over 25 years including in hospital, outpatient, community, non-profit, mental health, and public health settings.
