Dr. Parrish received his doctorate in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is currently the senior Maternal and Child Health epidemiologist at the Alaska Division of Public Health. He also serves on multiple local and national committees, co-chairs the Alaska Statewide Violence and Injury Prevention Partnership, holds an adjunct faculty position at the University of Alaska Anchorage, and initiated and chairs the Alaska R Users group. His research focuses on quantifying the influence of systematic error on effect estimates, data integration, and incorporating novel methods for applied surveillance with an emphasis on improving timeliness, efficacy, and utility of data that lead to prevention. Dr. Parrish developed a novel methodology that integrates both population survey and administrative data sources for studying child maltreatment longitudinally in statewide populations and is currently replicating this methods in other jurisdictions.
