Alex is a third-year doctoral student in the Department of Maternal and Child Health at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. She is a graduate research assistant at the National Maternal and Child Health Workforce Development Center, where she assists with evaluation data management and dissemination efforts. Previously, she has supported evaluation for the Essentials for Childhood project, focused on preventing child abuse and neglect in North Carolina, as well as worked on the Teach2Reach project, a sex trafficking education program for middle- and high-school students throughout North Carolina. Prior to her doctoral studies, Alex worked at Akron Children’s Hospital for four years, where she led numerous, collaborative projects in clinical research, health policy, and injury prevention. Her research interests focus on the intersection of refundable tax credits and child health, specifically identifying system-level approaches to prevent child maltreatment.
