Shanda Vereen is a doctoral candidate with a concentration in Community and Family Health at the College of Public Health of the University of South Florida (USF). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Howard University in Washington, D.C. and a Master of Science in Public Health from Meharry Medical College. While at Meharry, Shanda became a Peer Preconception Health Educator and a Student Health Ambassador working to raise awareness and prevent racial disparities in infant mortality in the surrounding community. Shanda spent four years working at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on various research projects related to maternal and child health. Currently, Shanda works on research projects designed to understand how to integrate father involvement in community services and programming. In recent years, Shanda has focused on community-engaged approaches to understanding maternal and infant mortality as well as father involvement.
