Jeffrey P. Mayer Ph.D. received the inaugural Public Health Systems Research Award from the Association for Health Services Research and Policy in 2002. He has been funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Danforth Foundation, and the Missouri Department of Health, among others. Dr. Mayer and colleagues have regularly presented at Healthy Start conferences. For example, at the 2010 NHSA meeting “What Fathers Need: An Assessment of Fathers in East Saint Louis” was presented. Dr. Mayer was a professor at the Saint Louis University College for Public Health and Social Justice for 30 years. Prior to his faculty appointment, he was Director of Research at the National Association of City and County Health Officials, and a Senior Associate in the Program Evaluation and Methodology Division of GAO, where he conducted policy evaluation studies for the Select Committee on Children, Youth and Families of the U.S. Congress.
