Background: It is stated in the periodontal treatment quideline that basic periodontal therapy leads to stable condition through establishment of rapole with patients. This time, we report a new case in which oral hygiene was improved by narrowing down oral hygiene guidance to the only deteriorated tooth.
Case: Patient was 53-year-old woman. First consultation date was July 2017. Chief complaint was that the tooth filing on the upper right molar was misaligned and could not be chewed, and also dental checkup. Whole body medical history was not particular. Oral findings was that redness and swelling of the gingiva, periodontal pocket of 4mm or more and tooth mobility were observed on the whole.The bleeding of probing at the first visit was 63% and the plaque control value was 52%. Periodontal disease stabilization treatment Thorough oral hygiene guidance limited to the lower right first molar led to improvement of the overall oral clieaning ability, and the bleeding of probing was 4% compared to the first visit. The plaque control value improved significantly to 18%. Conclusion:The establishment of localized plaque control improved self-care, while at the same time increasing motivation for treatment and gaining participation in voluntary treatment, resulting in overall improvement in periodontal tissue.
