MAT Coordinator
Fairfax County Sheriff's Office
Sheriff, Stacey Kincaid’s vision is for Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC) to be known as the most professionally run, economically efficient, innovative organization among our peers and I am honored and proud to be part of Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department to serve our community as a Medication Assisted Treatment Program (MAT)/Behavioral Health Manager. I am currently responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the Sheriff’s office Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) with special emphasis on Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).
I am responsible for developing and maintaining all policies and practices associated with the ADC- MAT program including reentry supports and emergent medications and treatments for OUD.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have worked with adolescents and adults diagnosed with co-occurring Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and Substance Use Disorders (SUD) in an outpatient, residential, as well as correctional setting. I have led teams with core competencies of Trauma, SUD, SMI and partnered with peer specialists and have gained an in-depth understanding of our community and clientele. Our core function is supporting Diversion First so that incarceration is no longer the default solution for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
Listed below are just a few of the professional experiences to include an increased expansion of program development at Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
Development of the MAT (Medication Assisted Treatment) in collaboration with Medical Team to address the opioid crisis in Fairfax County, Virginia within the criminal justice setting.
Development and implementation of Men’s Trauma Group for individuals in Striving to Achieve Recovery (STAR), a therapeutic based program for individuals while incarcerated in ADC.
Development of Gender Specific Substance Abuse and REVIVE (Opioid Overdose and Nalaxone Education) groups to reduce the risk for further substance use, experiencing relapse and drug-related death.
