After graduating from University of Phoenix with an accounting degree, Alicia began her career as an insurance agent in Winchester, TN. In 2017, Alicia started working as the Reentry Coordinator at the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office. During her employment, she developed program for inmates to help successfully reenter society with a focus on gaining and maintaining employment after release. Since the onset of the program the recidivism rate for those completed compared to the county rate has decreased from 60% to 22%.
Alicia is a certified instructor in Makin’ It Work, Mental Health First Aid, QPR (Question, Persuade, Respond) Suicide Prevention. Along with managing many state and federal grants. Alicia instructs a diverse number of programming within the jail, these programs include, Makin’ It Work, Job Skills, Money Management, Stress Management, Life Skills, Anger Management, and Parenting classes. In 2018, Alicia implemented a work release program within the facility which gives inmates the ability to work full time jobs while paying off fees and fines that are owed. This program has been essential in helping inmates to be better prepared for resuming life after incarceration. The work release program currently has a recidivism rate of 11%.
During her time off, Alicia is an active member of her church. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her dogs, Elmo and Chance.
